Steals and Deals: Body Central

We started receiving the Body Central catalog again quite randomly (cough, MetroStyle selling our info, cough) and were pleasantly surprised to note that the prices seem to have come down since last they solicited our business. Or maybe we're thinking of Boston Proper. Anyway, we found a zillion cute things under $30, so of course we are sharing!

If you've never checked them out, you'll notice that the aesthetic is somewhere between Victoria's Secret and Delia's: sexy tops and junior sizing and a little bit of slutty thrown in. Pieces are priced lower than either of the others, though: bonus!

We were thrilled to see animal-print cardigans offered at only $27-- a leopard cardi is one of the only items left on our list of things we're allowed to buy new! It's so ours. (Click pics to go to Polyvore for links to purchase).

The zebra print is adorable and totally on-trend also (we'd wear it with hot pink and turquoise, oh yes). They also offer it in a dalmation print (looks more like snow leopard to us, but whatever), if you prefer black and white to the brown leopard. Isn't the ruffly-charmeuse-neckline pencil-skirt dress stunning as well? And what a price!

We're always looking for cute, feminine layering pieces for work, and BC definitely doesn't disappoint with several little jackets and other great professional (but still fun) basics:

Quelle jolie! We especially love the styling of the pencil skirt with bold belt and flowy top- all three pieces are listed. And the lightweight sweaterdress (a major piece for fall into winter!) comes with the belt- both for $27. Not bad!

What BC really excels in is body-conscious (no surprise given the brand name) little tops for going out on the town. You'd be hard-pressed to find details like this at these prices at any other store:

The special little embellishments, like hook-and-eye closures and lace insets and ruffles and sequins just make us squeal with delight!

Have you found any awesome deals lately? Let us know. Hope you enjoy these finds!

Happy Bargain-Hunting!

Friday Steals and Deals: StylesforLess.com

We get so excited when we find a new website with ridiculously cheap, adorable clothes. Huzzah!

Happy Friday, dear readers-- today we're exploring the amazingly-priced sale section (and beyond) of Styles for Less, which we discovered on Polyvore while searching out leather jackets (post coming soon!).

First up, our jaw is still hanging out on the floor after we discovered this impossibly cute cardigan for only $5 (S/M/L, also available in yellow and some sort of "pink" that looks orange):

We adore the slightly poufy sleeves and the cropped shape. We have been looking everywhere for another baby cardigan since our hot pink one is a favorite. Score! (Shopping embargos can't count for items that are only FIVE DOLLARS, right?! That's practically free! It's cheaper than Goodwill!)

Also cute, and also only $5, is this 3-belt skinny belt set (can be worn together or separately):

Got a bachelorette party or a date coming up? How delicious is this little sequined ruffly bustier number, only $9, available in coral, green and black:

Big, bold necklaces are clearly the item of the season; kick up your style with this asymmetric long beaded-and-silver one, $3!

Or perhaps the most recent Lucky has you seeking out jewels with tassels... This cute diamond pendant with chain tassel is also only $3!

If you know us at all, you're aware that little excites us like ruffles and jewel tones. Feminine detailing and bright colors come together with natural fabric in this heavenly little sleeveless rayon v-neck tunic, $7:

We've been looking for a leopard-print cardigan for months, to no avail. Styles for Less to our rescue with this precious version, $14.99, which comes in zebra, leopard, and this (not-found-in-nature) pink/grey leopard, which is making us strongly consider including grey in our wardrobe pallette. (They also have another cheetah version in turquoise or grey, non-V-neck, $16.99)

Perhaps you've been craving a whisper-thin sweater wrap but haven't been willing to pay the outrageous prices out there... perhaps you need this one, in acrylic, black or white, $16.99:

Other than some more cheap jewels and basic tees for very little, this is the cutest stuff right now... but sign up for their newsletter to get sales directly in your inbox. We sure did. All orders over $50 receive free shipping- bonus!

Happy Sale-Shopping!

Newport News Steals: Sweet and Girly and Rock-n-Roll-y

We don't often shop through any catalog except for Vicky's, but back in the 90s we definitely forked over a good bit of cash to Newport News. We think they're a great source for cheap jeans (especially if you like color!) and work basics at a good price; and sometimes their design sensibility intersects with our own when they produce lovely, frilly, romantic or Victorian gothic pieces...

Our first group of finds-- girly-girly cardigans:

Newport News - Thrifty Romance
Newport News - Thrifty Romance by ThriftyStylist on Polyvore.com

Sage green crochet with flower detail and bell sleeves (also available in Raisin): $25
White long wrap-end cardigan (also available in 3 more colors): $17.99
Purple crochet (several more colors!) Misses $14.99, Plus $21.99

The wrap cardigan is pretty much identical to the ones that are everywhere this season, with a little bit of extra ruffle at the ends. Cute! Cheap! We need one. Shopping embargo= evil!

We were originally inspired to re-check out Newport News when Lucky featured this really adorable houndstooth pencil skirt, $29.00:

They recommended pairing it with a soft baby pink wrap-waist sweater, for a super-sexy retro bombshell look. We like, we like! We also think this silk shirt ($27.99) would be tremendous (available in sizes 4-18, only in the dusky plum):

If you're not in the mood for ruffles and lace, perhaps some of these harder-edged pieces will be more your style:

Newport News - Rock 'n' Roll
Newport News - Rock 'n' Roll by ThriftyStylist on Polyvore.com

Leather flare jeans, 3 colors, 3 lengths, $27.99
2-pack jersey Tees, leopard print (and black, we think?), $11.99
Black velvet bias-cut skirt, $27.99
Velvet bootcut jeans, 3 colors, 2 lengths, $24.99
Leopard (cheetah?) ballet flats with cap toe and bow, $14.99

Have you shopped at Newport News lately? We will definitely be keeping our eyes out for awesome clearance items like these... Move quick, because some of the items we selected (and did not include) for this feature were gone within hours of finding them!

Happy shopping!

Tuesday Online Steal-Sharing: Yoox and NY&Co

Today we're sharing some sales and steals we found through our FindSavings notification.

We had never heard of Yoox.com before, but on our first visit we found it to be a lovely and generally well-set-up site, although a bit rich for our blood since it focuses on high-end designers. However, a little bit of scouring in the clearance section might bring you great fortune- there are pages of under-$25 items, and although most are in one size and color only, you might get lucky with a great score! They're also offering free shipping through August 17th.

We're particularly enamored with these items brought to you via Polyvore (the only maddening thing about Yoox is that it's almost impossible to copy pictures; even with Polyvore, only a few of the items we wanted to feature would "clip." You'd think sites would want the publicity, sheesh!):

From left to right, black (velvet satin!) pencil skirt; cream cami with beaded fascinator detail; cropped flare lavender pants; elbow-length coral jersey v-neck; dark brown "eco-leather" (does that mean recycled or vegan? ack?) kitten-heel western-inspired boots. All $20. Check out Yoox and click on clearance and then use the size function to search for only items you might actually be able to wear, so as not to disappoint yourself terribly (just about every pair of cute jeans is in a 27. Our 12-year-old son, who has 7% body fat, has a 27-inch waist. Come on now). As always, click the picture to get to the specific listings via Polyvore.

There are also some fabulous deals this week at NY&Co... Free shipping on all orders of $75 or more. Plus jewelry is BOGO 50% off! And pants and jeans are BOGO FREE!!! *o_O*

Here are some of our favorites:

And check out their 30 under $30 page~ it's like they're channeling us!

We're going through shopping withdrawl just looking at all of these gorgeous things, so someone please let us live vicariously through you!

Happy shopping :)

Cute and Cheap: Old Navy Clearance

We love clearance (in case you hadn't noticed). In-store clearance, online clearance-- it doesn't matter, as long as we're getting something for close to its actual fabric cost, or 90% off original price, or anything else brag-worthy (we want people to know we didn't spend a lot to look so awesome ;) ). We were not aware that Old Navy had online-only deals, nor that they offered expanded sizing there (hello, petites and talls!), so we were excited to see (after a fellow blogger recommended them) these cardigans, normally $26.50 , on clearance in the petite length for only $9.99!

4 colors! 5 sizes! Just make sure you click "petite." In a sweater, surely you could get away with pretending it was made to be cropped and elbow-length, if you're taller?

We can't help but love this non-clearance front-page offering (does that mean everyone will have it like that lavender haphazard-tier Target skirt we have that we see all of the time? Ack) of a tiered, smocked -waistband prairie skirt with lovely white embroidery (although 'twould be nice if one could be confident said embroidery was done by someone who was compensated fairly for their work... :worried face: - they don't give country of origin online.)

Someone on Etsy makes something just as cute or way cuter, but probably not for $26.50. Ah, the perpetual juxtaposition of conscience and wallet...

Maybe something vintage instead? There is this cool vintage ribbon-trim one from PastandPresents for $25...

But back to the clearance... the maxi dresses are starting to go on sale so even though people are starting to talk about fall (heaven forbid), you might want a hot pink or black one in a tie-tube-top style at $19.99 before the dog days of summer.

We love lace-trim camis for layering and these (below) come in an astoundingly terrific 10 colors (all of which we adore); they're 2/$15, and in tall and petite several (other!) colors are discounted even further! They're jersey knit with 6% spandex, so they probably feel totally fantastic against your skin. (We hope, 'cause we're grabbing a bunch if they're still around come next pay cycle).

They've also got 6 colors of Hawaiian-y floral burnout-pattern scarves for $10:

Or if you're more of a solids kind of a girl, this one is also $10 (down from $12.50) and in 12 colors:

$6 for shelf bra camis (15 colors!) isn't bad at all- Vicky's and Express' are usually $15 or so.

Who knew ON carried yoga mats? Guess we haven't been in for a while. These hibiscus-print mats in 3 colors are on sale (slightly) for $12
We think this flower-print fabric hobo bag is pretty adorable, for only $10 too (also available in some stripey-preppy situations that are... "NOS" [not our style], shall we say):

We didn't even know they had shoes that weren't flip-flops, so imagine our surprise at encountering these covet-worthy espadrilles, shown here in our favorite color combo of course but also in neutrals, black & white stripe- $12.99- and then black, and yellow stripes, $15.99.

Hope we found some steals you might not have otherwise. Happy shopping!

Steal-Sharing: Ann Taylor Loft $7-$30

We just recently signed up at ShopItToMe, a site we discovered on Ramit Sethi's personal finance blog, and we recommend you do the same, unless you are on a personal shopping embargo!

You answer a few questions, give them your email address, and pick your favorite brands from their list (you can add more as you go), and then they send you emails (you can adjust the frequency) with sale items in whatever price range you designate! You can even choose what percentage off the item has to be to show up in your inbox, in addition to the final sale price.

We are pretty enamored so far. Since we're not exactly "into" brands, it was difficult to make our initial selection, but we're glad we branched out of our comfort zone, 'cuz they showed us an adorable skirt at Ann Taylor Loft (middle below for $29.99) and a bit more digging by us resulted in the rest of these awesome steals (pics loaded via Polyvore due to difficulty copying from Ann Taylor site; click through to be linked to actual listing):

Great basics for super cheap, and the quality and fabric are worth far more. Upscale clothes for Target prices= score.

They're also offering free shipping on any orders over $125.00.

We will be sharing our finds periodically, but for now we'll leave you with our final pick, a too-cute-for-words ruffly-puckered-bodice summer dress for less than $20:

You love us, right?

Unbelievable Shoe Steals

Thanks to another fashion blogger (sadly we've forgotten which) who turned us onto UrbanOriginal (http://www.urbanog.com/). The site is a bit overwhelming so we'll start with just great shoes $10 and under today.

Lots of pairs are (sadly) available in only one size (this is clearance, after all), but if you're lucky enough to be that size, score! ...Like these sexy gladiator-ish stilettos in bright pink for FOUR DOLLARS! But only if you're a size 9. Le sigh.

For our tiny sisters, these black gladiator-inspired Mary Janes- size 6 only- are only $7 (Also available in brown size 8):

Have you been wanting to add a little extra brightness to your outfits? How about some sunny yellow platform wedges with precious bow detailing? In sizes 9 and 10 at $8:

Another bright option is this crazily Fleuvog-y pump in orange and red wingtip, only $8, sizes 5 1/2, 6 and 7 1/2:

If you're a wee lass really into the gladiator thing (we don't quite get it but understand many people are!) and/or the metallic trend for the summer, check out these tall silver strappy sandals, $9 in sizes 5 1/2 and 6 1/2:

More bright wedges, for sizes 8 1/2 or 9, $9. Every girl needs some hot pink shoes, don't you think?

We love platforms for the extra height without the killing of our feet. These ones might be a tad on the extreme side, but the toned-down maroon red keeps them out of trampy territory. Available in whole and half sizes 6 to 9, $9:

If you're willing to venture out of the $10 range, there are literally hundreds of pairs of shoes here. Not to mention other apparel (stay tuned for another blog!)

Enjoy the finds and happy shopping!

P.S. The site is currently offering free shipping on all orders $50+ within the continental US! Enter code FREESHIP during checkout! Bonus bonus!
